The aim of this project is to study the interaction between phonology and other components of grammar, with special attention to morphology, using constraint-based models such as Optimality Theory and Harmonic Grammar.
Empirically, we cover phenomena found in Romance languages and beyond.
We study

the relationship between metrical structure and morpheme realization

the phonological and morphological effects in morpheme combination, with special attention to verbal morphology and identity effects

the effects of syncretism produced by pronominal clitic combinations and the phonological and morphological effects in enclitic contexts

the prosodic categories above the prosodic word and their interaction with syntax and pragmatics, with special attention to the realization of focus, among others
