DESCRIPTION:Seminari del CLT\nAcquisition of Mandarin syntax before age two: Distribution of objects\nJINGTAO ZHU (UAB)\nDivendres, 3 de maig de 2019\nAula 202, 15:30\nThere are at least three ways to externalize the object in Mandarin Chinese: object in the VP position, object in the vP position or above (but still in the TP-field) or object in the left periphery. One empirical question is that how children identify the distribution of objects in their target language? In this talk, I will compare three classical language acquisition models both within and outside the framework of Generative Grammar against the empirical domain of the acquisition of both canonical and non-canonical word orders in Mandarin, more specifically, I will focus on early comprehension before age two by using a cognitively less demanding methodology, such as eye-tracking.\n
